This page is for our mom. We hope you will share a memory here. We would be grateful. We will keep adding memories and stories of our own. There is much to say about this incredible woman.
Barbara's ashes were interred at the Keough family burial plot on May 20, 2017, at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, Illinois. The graveside service was beautiful and lovely. We could not have asked for a better tribute to our mom.
We thank everyone who came out to the service, and to join us for a celebratory meal afterward. From the bottom of our hearts.
We love you, Mom. We are proud of you. We are glad you were our mom. Matt & Mary
Mary and Matt, I am looking forward to pouring over your tribute and these stories this weekend. Thank you for sharing this with us! I will see you on May 20th. Hugs from all of us to all of you.
Mary, Matt & Jim, I am so very sorry for your loss. I was Barbara's secretary at SSF&G for almost 10 years until I moved to Albuquerque, 26 years ago. We kept in touch at Christmas & she always included a personal letter, a rarity. She was a true lady, one of the warmest human beings I've known, a pleasure to work with, and an amazing lawyer. God rest her soul.
Barb, you will always be an inspiration to me. Of course, I admired your many professional achievements, but I am most grateful that you raised a wonderful daughter whom I love, and that you loved me and your grandchildren, our Erin and Luke, unconditionally. Your acceptance of others, your grace, and the quiet dignity of your life testify to your humanity, which I will always cherish.
Such a beautiful gal in all ways. I was her Alpha Delta Pi pledge mother when she joined our sisterhood her sophomore year -rather amusing as we were the same age! She was enthusiastic, committed, loyal and so hard working. We shared some fun times including dancing in our stunt show group and playing bridge after supper. A role model & dedicated Pres.of A D Pi. A life well lived indeed.
I loved to pause at my neighbor Barbara's house when I walked our dog. What an engaged listener! I always left feeling like our conversation was as important as any she had all day. She was, and always will be, GB to my daughter Hanna who enjoyed MANY sleepovers at her home. The most memorable: the New Year's Eve she sent the kids outside banging on pots to ring in the new year!
Barbara was a fantastic person and attorney. She worked with my Dad at SSFG and handled my Mom's legal affairs after his death. She gave Mom brilliant legal advice. They became close friends. She cared about Mom after retirement, unusual for a big firm attorney. I relied on her guidance as well. Our family sends condolences. We miss her. I will be pleased to celebrate her life on May 20.
To all of you who are leaving tributes and sharing stories, we thank you so much! We are so grateful for these stories of our mom's early life -- her life pre-kids! It is heartwarming, interesting, and provides great comfort. So please keep sharing! Mary Hahn & Matt Lundergan (the kids) we will continue to post updates and share as much as we can!
As her partner for 40 years at the Seyfarth firm, she was the most capable, cordial and well-liked attorney there. She counseled and consoled hundreds of clients and staff members in very trying times. She was always quick with that beautiful, constant and authentic smile--the same one you see in all her pictures. We will miss her.
As Barbara's sister-in-law for fifty years, I will always remember her wonderful smile, her kind personality, and great listening ability in our many political discussions. Nicest Republican I ever met. She always laughed at my jokes, saying: "Sure Helen, tell me another one." And I always did. Her husband Jim, her sister-in-law June and I will never forget her.
All'alba vincerò! Vincerò! Vincerò! Max
