Avery, though you went not a day without suffering and pain, you held your head high and faced it like a soldier at war. Your resilience always amazed me; on death's door one day and busy the next mowing the lawn, potting plants, cooking and doing other chores! You were my best friend, closest companion and only son. My hero, always. Proudly loved, cherished & terribly missed. Kathy
Avery, there is a hole in my heart where you once were. I have known you since you were 4 years old. I am bolstered by your strength and bravery in the face of insurmountable obstacles.
I knew Avery best as a child. I know he had health struggles even then, but I remember a joy filled child. He delighted in all things, large and small. He was smart and a problem solver and inventor. He had a great sense of humor which reminded me of Pop, Marg, my Dad, and Avery's Mom, Kathy. It was a great time to be in their company. I loved Avery, and I love you, Kathy.
Avery was my nephew and also my friend. We shared many of the same interests and had many stimulating conversations. I was constantly amazed at his insight and intelligence, like he had memorized the entire Internet and was ready to answer any question. Although his life was too short, the value of his presence left its mark on those that knew him.
Avery you did not deserve the pain.
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Avery, I heard of his love of nature from his mother Kathy. They spent many of her days off hiking, gardening and visiting a new favorite nursery. He was well loved and will be well remembered.
So very sorry to hear of your loss. What a beautiful tribute you wrote about him. I remember him well and that sweet smile, With a twinkle in his eye.
I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I cannot even imagine the pain and sadness you are feeling. I hope that you will soon remember the good memories and cherish all of the good times spent with him. I will hold you and Avery in my prayers
We knew Avery as a child, so lovable, bright, handsome and energetic. But he fought through pain for most of his young life, and we learned through his Mom that each year brought more suffering. Today we have very heavy hearts because he has left us, but we know he is no longer suffering. Our family was blessed to know Avery. We send our love and prayers to his dear Mom, Kathy.
I just recently learned of this news & feel such an overwhelming sense of sadness. As long as I have known you Kathy, I have heard the heart of a loving mother advocating for her son. This memorial depicts what a bright, passionate, nature loving, caring individual Avery was. What a beautiful way to be remembered. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy for such a loss.
I met Avery when he was 7 or 8 in SJ & again at 10 after I moved to So Cal. He was positive and energetic, not giving a hint of so many of his health problems. Kathy, you were a terrific mom for having such a happy son! I only wish I could have spent more time to know him better. You have my deepest sympathy & I am praying for God to comfort you in your grief and mourning for Avery! <3
