Your description of Mr. Campagna as living a life of “integrity and purpose” is perfect. It seems to me exactly correct. As a Hillsdale High School student in the early 60s and a member of the band, I had extensive contact with him, and he had more of an influence on me – all for the good – than any other teacher. All of us students respected him highly, and we tried hard to please him.

I was a student at Hillsdale High School from 1972-1976. While in high school, I played percussion in the band. I also wrestled. There were more wrestlers in the band than any other sport. Duke would come to our home matches and watch his boys, that was so cool. After retirement, I joined a community band. I am the lead percussionist and principal timpanist. Each concert is for the Duke.
