I was a former student of his at Concord High. My husband teases me that I'm a French obsessive and it 100% started with Alan. He put his heart into everything he did and taught us how to live - the baking, the garden, the trip to France! Through it all it was clear that he was the coolest. Always loving in a gruff way. Subtly hilarious.  25 years later I still giggle at his comments.

I just discovered Alan passed away a year ago. I was student at the same baking school in Rouen, and I keep a wonderful memories with Alan who was so fun. I visited him in San Francisco when I was in California in 2005.
