It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember
Alfie helped me out many times over the years, and we did "scratch each other's back" and we had a good, if not crazy, business relationship. During the recession, Alfie dug up all kinds of little gigs for me to do, and for that I'm eternally grateful. I enjoyed his whacky sense of humor, and his larger-than-life persona. Yes, he drove me crazy, but the thought of him makes me smile!
Alfie's kind and generous Spirit will always be remembered with tender gratitude. His music and his laughter went directly to our hearts.
I had the unique experience of working with/for Alfie at the San Jose Fairmont for two decades, including solo and duo-piano gigs in the lobby bar, casuals in most of the salons, and outside events throughout the Bay Area. Alfie was kind, witty, supportive, and always had a ready smile. As a colleague and friend, he will be missed.
I will always remember Alfie for his off-beat sense of humor and penchant for nicknames — but also for his deeper, philosophical side and kindness. Alfie was a classically trained pianist, a brilliant composer, as well as the outgoing 'happy guy' many met at the Fairmont Hotel or other events. I will never forget this gentle, precious soul or the beautiful music he created.
Forever remembered 1973..
