I just learned of Mr. Zimm's passing, and am saddened yet proud to say I once knew this great man. His son, Sol and I were best friends in our youth growing up at the corner of the Boulevard and Main Streets. I'm sorry to say I long ago lost touch with the Zimms' multi-faceted and productive lives but have followed them through mutual friends and the local media. My deepest sympathy to all.
My deepest sympathy to all the Zimm family. I came to know the Zimm's as a child as my father had his Uniforms tailored by Mr. Zimm; as an adult shopping at Ruth's store and Mr. Zimm kindly tailored my clothes. I admire, respect, appreciated the opportunity of hearing stories; the family gives back so much it's amazing. Thank you for sharing love, kindness, peace. God bless you all.
I was lucky enough to find his tailor shop while I was passing time and waiting for St. Catherine's School to let out one day. He was engaging and friendly and he became "my tailor" and the tailor for my family for the next 20 years. We talked about his personal history and also the history of the local Westwood neighborhood that he was part of. God bless Mr. Zimm and his family.
