I don’t know what prompted me to search the Internet just now too try and track Judge Warren Tucker. I am making contact from Belfast, North of Ireland. Judge Tucker visited Belfast in the early 1980s (1984) if my memory serves me right. I had the great privilege to have him stay in my home in the Clonard area of West Belfast. My husband Billy (r.I.p.) entertained him.
In the turbulent time (1969-1994) we were involved in a traumatic time called The Troubles. And many supporters of the Republican movement came from the USA to see the situation for themselves, Warren Tucker was one such man. When I learned we were getting a judge I was very apprehensive, how would I look after him. But I needn’t have worried as he was a wonderful man.
He had a fondness for snuff and I was happy to wash and iron his shirts (snuff stains ? He spoke so fondly of his little boy Matthew and we had a wonderful time with him. He always intended to return to Ireland, but I don’t think he did and we drifted apart. The one thing that has stuck in my memory was his amazing likeness to my favourite actor George C Scott. And he knew that.
I am so sorry to learn of his death. I send my sincere condolences to his family. I will always remember him. He was a friend of Ireland ???? and I am so sorry we never met again. All the very best from me to you and God bless you all xxx
