My heart is saddened to know this amazing being has passed on. Sam's intelligence, wit, creative spark, and delightful spirit were bright lights. His brilliant contributions to this world through his literary works, his activism, and his heroic efforts with Monadnock United, will be one of many legacies he leaves. My heart goes out to his family with the deepest of sympathies.

I found out this awful news belatedly- through a link-in message. How did I not know this? I have many memories of Sam going back to 1989; he was a terrific support for writing and always took an interest. I know Julie and Emily...to the rest of the family I extend my shocked condolences , belatedly but heartfelt.
