Dear Dr. Rothschild,
I wish you knew the impact you had on me and my college experience. You were my closest friend as a professor and believe it or not you classes got me through tough times. You were a true academic and scholar. I will be purchasing your books and listening to a lot of Hei Bao.
Rest Easy My Friend you leave behind a legacy

For over a decade I assugned Prof Rothschild's invaluable biography of Wu Zhao to my senior seminar students.  Just niw, so impressed once again by his scholarship, writing, and inviolate fairness, I wrote him an email to express my appreciation of him to him.  My email was blocked and returned as undeliverable.  I searched for him again on the internet, and,  I discovered his obituary.

Very troubled that I had not contacted him earlier to express my gratitude to him for his truly superior work, I could only find this outlet to express my horrified surprise and grief that he had recently passed.  I am so sorry.  But I am so thankful that he published his superb work.  John Didier, Colorado State University.

I recently was looking for an article about Empress Wu Zhao. I remembered one professor forwarded it to me a few years ago. After several research I saw obituary of Dr. Rothschild and checked my email that it was him. It is hard to believe since it was so recent. So sorry, you are very humble.
