Mrs Eckels was my favorite teacher at Hanshew Junior High.  She was warm, kind, funny, and obviously cared deeply about kids.  So vibrant.  So real.  When I saw her around town as an adult, she would always be sure to say hello and remembered my name and small details.  As a teacher, I have always treasured the example Mrs Eckels set  and I try to emulate her daily.  Her spirit lives on.
