Ron Zappa and W/D are surreal to me. Let’s admit that W/D was way ahead of its time and that it enabled millions of consumers to afford tire and wheel combinations that were #1, not available elsewhere. #2, offered at attractive prices, #3, installed and serviced with quality, integrity, and respect. I never knew Ron. I was a personal friend of one of his partners, Herschel Moss. As it turned out, W/D did business the old-fashioned way. Zappa and Moss made smart decisions and they always kept their word. My dad, Warren Hill, was one of many suppliers and although he was much older, he made money, W/D made money, and consumers were thrilled. Ron Zappa’s firm was pretty awesome and his legacy serves to remind us of what was once possible in America. I just wish that Ron and Herschel had lived to ripe old ages.
