Bob will be greatly missed.  He started out as my taxi driver (thanks to Cathy and my neighbors) and ended up as a patient of mine at the dental office.  I am glad I got to spend that time with him during his visits.  He always made me laugh and he was good at giving me shit too.  Every time I saw him, he talked about his kids.  You could tell they were the love and joy of his life.

My Dear Bob, aka TaxiBob, became a friend during the many years he "ferried" me back and forth to the airport.  We had a standing date for many years every Monday at an unhealthy time of the morning and again on Friday when he picked me up at the airport.  He made me laugh so hard I often spilled the coffee he stopped to get me in the morning.  He will live in my heart forever.

I have teamed with Bob many times over the years on the volleyball court all around the Central Virginia area. He even wore my extra shirt at Prince Edward a few years back, when he forgot to remove his from the wash. For those of you who know us though we are the same height Bob had a little more girth than I, but he squeezed into it and made another memory to chuckle over. Condolences.

Dearest loved ones & friends of Taxi Bob, While my husband nor I have  ever had the privilege of meeting Taxi Bob, we were so grateful to him. He was the dependable source that picked up our daughter to & from the airport at all hours of the night/morning. I'm sure I am speaking for many of the parents of UR children. Rest assured, we are sure he fondly touched many lives. Thanks,

For the past 11 years Bob has served as one of our two lead Court Officials for Youth Volleyball in Chesterfield County. His unwavering commitment to our League, and his dedication to the kids in our Program has been exceptional. Even during this past season as he was battling health challenges, he never wanted to miss a Monday or Tuesday night match. He simply loved working with our young athletes to teach them the game of volleyball through his officiating, and I could always count on his dedication every week during our winter seasons and to always give his best to our teams and Program.  Personally, I will miss Bob immensely. I loved his sense of humor, and his authentic and matter-of-fact point of view. You always knew where you stood with Bob, and his genuineness and honesty was endearing. Our League will simply not be the same without him, and his absence on Court 1 will be felt deeply and personally for a long, long time to come.

Bob gave me invaluable advice in my 20's while I was driving a taxicab for a short stint in Richmond Va.  He was one of a kind.  He cussed and smoked a pipe in his cab.  He told the riders to get out if they didn't like it and instead of offending them --- they would tip him "big" and  become loyal regular customers.  I didn't understand it but customers loved him. I am sad he's gone. :-/
