Dick was a wonderful MIT colleague and mentor. His passion for perceptual neuroscience was infectious. In the 1970s, Dick was interested in how subjects adapted to left-right vision reversing goggles. He invited me to be a subject. It was a nauseating but fascinating experience that strongly shaped my own research directions. He loved people as well as ideas. I will miss him !
Look closely at Dick;s eyes and you will see two of his memorable characteristic - deep insight and a sense of delight and humor. As an MIT colleague he and Emilio Bizzi collaborated on a stimulating interdisciplinary course on movement control - and played tennis to put it into practice! A lovely man has passed on.
