Richard and I were best friends in High School. He was uniquely gifted with personal class, deep intelligence, artistic joy - and the gift of friendship. Unlike many shallow people of our age and time, Richard possessed a quick mind, deep soul, strong intellect, and incredible artistic qualities, He was a formative person in my early life. I miss him!!
I will always think of Dick as “Kevo” that big, talented bear of a guy that I I knew at Thomas Jefferson in the 50s. Reading about him here, I am struck, but not the least surprised by all that he achieved in his lifetime. A life well lived. (Sue Wilson Sproul)
Rest in Peace, my boss, my mentor, and, I hope, my friend.
Richard was my painting professor at VCU in the late 1970s. He was an inspiring teacher and true mentor. His advice and friendship were importantly helpful and supportive. I've always remembered him fondly for his humor and penchant for wonderful stories I just had to retell. As with so many, Richard was a formative influence on me.
I'm saddened to learn of Mr. Kevorkian's passing.I had him for a couple of classes at VCU in the late 80's.I remember him always talking about his love of Beethoven's late string quartets. He always had great book recommendations and kindly let me borrow his copy of an out of print book by Terry Southern.I remember him fondly and my deepest sympathies to his family.
