Father Kauffmann was the first diocesan priest assigned to St. Benedict church. The church had older parishioners but once he came the young families came. He turned around St. Benedict. He improved the school. He brought back Latin to parts of the Mass and school children learned Latin. He knew his flock and we thank the Lord for bringing him to us. Eternal rest dear Father Kauffmann.

Fr. Kauffman was my neighbor and a gentle friend in the times we would see one another in the chapel at St Mary's Hospital. His kind words in times of crisis for my sick patients and their families were too numerous to count. He was generous and willing to share a love of art and his beautiful collections, and I can only say how much he will be missed.
