Reed William Goodmiller grew up in Lafayette. Reed graduated from Acalanes High School and U.C. San Diego, with a B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies. Reed lived in California, Hawaii, Ohio, Montana, Nevada, and Oregon, and traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. Reed was an avid athlete, sportsman (a loyal fan of the Giants), and loved the outdoors, especially backpacking in the mountains. Reed enjoyed photography, reading, and a game of golf.  Reed loved and respected his family, his friends, nature, and animals (especially his dog Kuma), and he was loved and respected in turn. Reed approached the world with an open mind and open heart. Reed’s wit, intelligence, and sincere attention is treasured by many. Reed’s connections run deep and are everlasting. “All family, no friends.” Reed passed away in May, 2016. He was 28 years old.
