In 1983 Norm more or less alone created a Software Maintenance Workshop, a meeting that continues and flourishes as ICSM.  He invited me to help, and I was hard to handle.  But I came to deeply appreciate his knowledge, good sense, good humor, and good will.  In 2014 I tried to invite him to a reunion at the Conference but alas he could not come.  A salute to Norm.  Not forgotten.
