Our beloved Michael Phillip Pingatore passed peacefully on January 8, 2019. He was born in Minneapolis on August 23, 1935 and grew up in San Francisco with his parents and two brothers. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from San Jose State University in 1957. While attending college, he met and married the love of his life, Janice Manuell - the beginning of a steadfast marriage that would last 61 years. Mike loved the real estate business and was a dedicated real estate broker for 45 years, and stayed in touch with the housing market even after retiring. He was one of the founders of the Livorna Homeowners Association, president of the Walnut Creek Homeowners Council and volunteered on various city advisory committees. He was very proud to be the Board President of the Contra Costa County Realtors’ Association in 1983, and was named Realtor of the Year in 1986.
Mike dearly loved his family and made sure everyone knew how proud he was of them. He loved to meet and talk to new people wherever he went, and shared stories and memories with a warm, exuberant laugh. He was very active in the Catholic Church. His greatest passion was downhill skiing and would travel all across the western states to ski. He was incredibly energetic and worked out at the gym as early as 2am. He spent every morning with Jan at the kitchen table, drinking hazelnut coffee together as the sun rose.
Mike was preceded in passing by his younger brother Gregory of San Diego, CA and is survived by his other brother Phillip of Modesto, CA. He is remembered and missed by his loving wife Janice, his five children Michelle, Stephen, John, Marguerite, and Marianne, and his ten grandchildren.
