John and I were high school classmates and close friends during those years. He was a solid guy in every way and one of the most determined people I have ever known.  I feel a deep loss having heard of his passing and a sadness at us not to have stayed connected with each other. I worked with John for about three years on an automated pharmacy project just north of Philadelphia.  He was a gifted engineer who brought many talents to bear on each problem he encountered.  His vast experience in the Marine Corp made every lunch break a worthwhile learning experience.  We shared a love for the physics of sailing and I miss him when I think about that.
