Yesterday we celebrated the life of my uncle “Babe” Joaquin Herrero. He was 96 years old when he passed away on January 9, 2019. He was a very loving, compassionate and generous man. When I visited him in the hospital this past summer as he was getting over pneumonia, so weak he was. He took my face in his hands and asked me how my girls were. When my oldest daughter was attending college in Spain he would call me often asking how she was doing. He loved family and proud to be a Spaniard! I have such wonderful memories of our trips to Spain, he as guide and Uncle Ralph as historian; our family gatherings at his house in Tahoe Donner or his home in Sunnyvale. He was the last of my mother’s family. Now we, Los Primos, will continue on. It won’t be the same without him but we remember and know how blest we are. May Gods loving arms hold you, Tio Babe!
