Jerry was a brilliant physicist with an extraordinary mental energy. He embraced opportunities to break new ground especially if it went against the grain and he was undaunted by occasional failures. He was renowned for his sense of humor and respected as a fierce and worthy competitor. He will be remembered as a courageous trailblazer and a faithful friend, and he will be sorely missed.
Jerry was my advisor and mentor at MIT. He taught me a passion for applying science to real world problems, and objectivity, which has served me well through-out my life. I regret not staying in touch in recent years. Jerry's passing, along with that of Jake Kerwin earlier in the year, really mark the end of a memorable era at MIT which I feel privileged to have been a part of.

Well respected and well liked for his enthusiastic approach to everything he got involved in, Jerry will be remembered by so many of us who had the opportunity to work with him at MIT and in the sailing activities of Matador and the America's Cup activities of America3.
Today would have been Jerry’s 84th birthday. He didn’t much celebrate it. I once asked him how he liked the chocolate we sent him and he quietly mentioned that he was allergic to it! But he enjoyed celebrating David’s birthday, and I can see his smile those days. My mom is so lonely without him, but is doing as best she can. We miss him always but are so thankful for the love he gave us.
Today is a little over a year from Jerry’s passing. My mom is unwell with a cold, and I think of him and how well he would take care of her. She was always his first priority. She has good caretakers in Boston, but misses him dearly. In lighting the Chanukah candles, we remember Jerry as having brought so much light into our lives.
Yesterday Jerry would have been 85 years old. Uromi and I remembered how I sent him chocolate once for his birthday – and he was allergic to it! But he had a good laugh about it. Can hear his laugh still, and definitely feel his presence.
