a huge loss, not just to Brookline, also to MA, USA, the universe. Laura personified the (linguistically lacking) female version of "mensch." We must all remain inspired by the everlasting spirit of her amazing, near-saintly, persona, values, and commitment.

I only met Laura last spring, but she made a deep impact on me. I spent a week with Laura as a caregiver, coming at night to help with various things. I loved our conversations post-meal. It was evident she adored each family member/friend; her passion for her community/politics were so admirable. She is one I aspire to be like, from how she cared for family to making a difference.

Laura was remarkable! Her intelligence, grace , and kindness will be long remembered. I was the richer for having known her.

My memory of Laura as my Aunt Lorry stretches back over 60 years and so I am sharing photographs from her collection of colour slides dating from 1949 that show the vibrant beautiful young woman she always was to me. I am mindful that some of the most radiant of these photos were taken by her husband, Bill. But I feel that we all have felt the warmth of her smile. With love, Althea

Laura Schlesinger connected with you as if you were the center of the world. Call her on the phone, she could tell by the sound of the ring how you were holding at that moment. She was an activist yet did not impose, concerned for others, yet held herself with a ladylike quality from a previous era. Laura was someone you hoped to see again, all who knew her were blessed indeed.
