As the oldest sibling, my brother Keith was larger than life to me as a kid. He wasn’t just smart, he was brilliant- like genius-level “Einstein” brilliant-and from early on, he seemed to view the world differently than most. He was calm, methodical, seemed ‘wise beyond his years’. He consumed information, was unphased by the complicated, and was curious about everything. He was known to take household appliances apart just for kicks, and he was a walking encyclopedia of facts and figures. He was obsessed with computers, long before anyone else seemed to be, a passion that would ultimately lead him to a successful career in software development. His logical approach to the real world was balanced by his love of all things SCI-FI. Keith was the ultimate Trekkie-he talked about Star Trek characters as if he knew them personally, and he once sketched out a diagram of the U.S.S. Enterprise to scale with elaborate detail. He was a Dungeons and Dragons guy-complete with the graph paper and weird-shaped dice-and would play for hours (if not days). He was equally comfortable in the world of math and technology, and the world of Vulcans and wizards.I did not share in Keith’s fascination of Star Trek, or computers (or math for that matter), but we did bond over music. He introduced me to David Bowie, Rush and Queen-he knew all their albums, could quote all the lyrics. Despite his sometimes-serious demeanor, my brother was also wickedly funny. Humor has always been the ‘secret code’ of my family-how we got through tough times as siblings-and Keith was never one to shy away from a comic opportunity. I have many a memory of being in grocery store checkout lines with him, and he’d start in with a crude impression of Yoda or a South Park character-at first, I would be mortified that someone would hear him, but I’d soon be snorting from laughing so hard. When they were all together, Keith, Larry and Josh took ‘roasting’ to a new level-spitting out jokes masked as insults in rapid-fire succession that always resulted in laughter to the point of tears. Keith had a lot of ‘firsts’ being the oldest brother: first ‘real job’, first to buy a house, etc. We all looked up to him, and, as the oldest, I think he felt personally responsible for us- he did not want to let us down. This commitment- to being the reliable person, the ‘go to’ guy who took care of everything- only deepened when he became a father himself to Betsy. He was also tremendously proud of his nieces and nephew, and he took a genuine interest in the lives of those he cared about. Incredibly generous, Keith never hesitated to step up, step in, and help others in need.
Love you, Keith. Rest in Peace, big brother.

The world will never be the same without you. I am am glad I was there for you the last few years you were with us. You were an amazing brother to your even more amazing siblings. You always made your Aunt and I laugh with your spot on imitations of Cartman and Alf. You were always there for me thru my medical nightmares, something that I will never forget. The world will miss you. RIP !!
