This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Craig Freas, 76, born in 1947 and passed away on August 30th, 2023. We will remember him forever.
Craig & Nancy and my husband & I, and another couple were very good friends with dating back nearly 42 years. Craig’s wife Nancy, myself, and another woman first met as legal colleagues, became social friends, and took part in many shared law-related and community-focused projects over the years. Our hearts ache and memories are dear.
Craig was an amazing, richly detailed, black and white photographer in Alaska in the 1980s-90, purely for the passion. The fly fishing experiences he had, coupled with his photography are, I strongly suspect, unequalled. His passing came as to a shock to us; we knew his wife’s passing very well. Dear family, much respect & kudos for being with him. Kathy & Randy, now in Colorado.
I agree. Craig made friends easily, he was helpful, generous, intelligent, checked in regularly, made the most out of life. Loved his family, engineering career and colleagues, Penn State wrestling, fly fished all over world, photography, traveling, music, watercolor painting. He set a great example of a life well lived a natural teacher and leader. I will miss him. Condolences. Laurie
I met Craig as my supervisor in 1980 to 1981 in Alaska. Craig taught me a great deal about structural engineering. We remained in contact as my late parents and I attended Penn State U. Craig helped me later in our parted career paths as a reference. Craig was an honest and passionate talented engineer who designed useful types of infrastructure. My prayers are with his family and friends!
Miriam, trying to reach out and find some of the remaining Freas family. This is Patricia, daughter of Harold who was brother to George. Craig and I communicated over the years and when I got no response when I recently reached out I googled his name and found this obituary. I am so sorry for your loss. Please reach out to me, my email is mrspyp60@aol.com.
