My thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Weatherspoon’s family! I posted a pic of 1975 8th grade boy’s basketball but it could have been any one of more than a hundred of Coach Spoon’s team pictures. Coach Spoon was such a great coach, mentor and father figure to so many former players and students. I’m so proud to have been - and will always be - one of them. God bless Coach Spoon!!

He loved me!! With all his heart, he loved me!!! And Coach Weatherspoon demonstrated his love through his wonderful smile, his deep, jovial laugh, and his quiet strength in demonstrating humility, kindness, discipline, poise, and character. His influence is a mainstay in my life and I am blessed to have been under his leadership. Well done, good and faithful servant!

What an incredible man, coach and teacher!  He was such a warm soul who demonstrated his love for his students and players.  I am privileged and blessed to have known him, to have been coached by him, to have been taught by him and to have been mentored by him.  Rest in peace, Coach.
