A freshman at ULowell in the fall of ‘76, I played bass and contra clarinets under his baton.  As a conductor, he was demanding and always musical.  He brought us into the community for public performances to raise money for the school and to entertain.  As a college Dean, he artfully balanced the many conflicting demands of his professors and students. He had a profound influence on me.
