William (Bill) F. Blocher, Jr. of Irvington Virginia passed away on April 19, 2017 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA. He was 78 years young. Bill was born in Washington, D.C. to William F. Blocher and Mildred Williams (Blocher Purcell). He spent many years as a young boy in Washington, D.C. and Bethesda, MD. He graduated from George Washington University with an MBA degree in Economics. While attending George Washington University, he met Karen Klare who became his wife (divorced 1984) and mother of two daughters, Kimberly A. (Blocher) O’Donnell and Robyn L. Blocher.
Bill worked at the family printing business; Blocher Reprographics Inc. Soon he began a long history of active involvement with local & state politics and serving as Chairman of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. Furthering his professional career took him to the Information Technology sector in early/mid-1980s where he held various Executive level positions until his unofficial retirement in 2015.
During these years living in Fairfax County, he met and married Sue Lewis, who had two children Chad Lewis and Haley (Lewis) Hough from a previous marriage. This marriage ended in divorce.
In 2005, Bill moved to the Northern Neck Area of Southern Virginia. In many ways, he moved to the area that was truly home to his heart. He always loved being by the water, whether the ocean, rivers or bays. One of his first moves was to join the Lancaster County Republican Committee. It was not long before he was elected to an official position; and then was appointed to a job as the Republican member of the local Board of Elections.
While living at his last residence on Corner Oak Circle, Bill was introduced to Toulouse. Toulouse was the neighborhood cat that everyone fed and cared for. That was until Toulouse informed Bill that he was his new housemate.
His parents and his stepbrother - Ronald Blocher, predecease Bill. Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly A. O’Donnell and Robyn L. Blocher, his brother Robert Blocher, his half-brother, Roy Blocher, and half-sister Alice Knudsen along with various nieces and nephews.
