I went to AVHS with your Dad. I remember he set pins at the AV Bowling alley, which I believe his Dad managed.  His Mom worked at the corner drug store (don't remember the name).  The last time I saw him
was on Lanc. blvd in about 1955, he said he was attending Pasadena City college.  Also saw him on tv when
he was released from POW status.  Jean Zarley Larson

Many,many years ago, as a 7th grader, I wore a POW bracelet bearing Maj. Abbott’s name. I’v e wondered about him over the years and am happy to learn that he returned home and went on to live a long,rich life and receive the many medals and accolades that he more than deserved. Rest in Power, Sir.
