Uncle Tom was with us when our first daughter was born on Christmas Day in 1974, at Beale AFB in N California and we had many visits with him when we were at Travis AFB from 1982-89. Lots of great memories and so much fun together! Miss you, Unc!!

Our dear sweet Uncle Tom. We miss you so much already. You’ve always been part of my life. A huge part of my life. We’ve had so many fun adventures, from the Golden Spike, to the White House, to the Outer Banks, to NYC, to the Golden Gate Bridge, to Big Sur.  You were always game for a fun time!  Off you go now, with Buster by your side.  Love you forever!  Patti and Dale Mietla Herndon,VA

To the man who never seemed to age and always had a smile. Your love for your family and of all the animals (crazy birds and all), you always had the knack to make life more fun. I’ll never forget you. Hope you’re having a party up there with Grandma and Grandpa. Sending you that hug I never got to give you.

Uncle Tom was truly a bright, kind soul. I look fondly on my memories of Group FaceTime calls with him; he never failed to put a smile on everyone's face. He was also very thoughtful, and always expressed care about what was happening in everyone's lives. I have no doubt he made friends everywhere he went. Sending love and prayers.

Tom was the most kindest & thoughtful man I have ever known.  During the gas shortage he drove a company car & offered to come out of his way to pick me up & take me home from our place of work.   Both being single we also attended the company parties together.  He had a wonderful laugh.  I am so happy he called me recently & we had a great chat. R.I.P.  my friend of many years.

I met Tom in 1967 at Surety Title.  Just out of the Army I was a troubled.  That didn't stop Tom.  With Tom and Al Torres as my mentors my life changed completely.  Even in retirement Tom kept in touch.  We had countless lunches and exchanged Christmas cards.  We had our last phone chat a week or two before he passed and reminisced about the old days.  I owe Tom more than I can ever repay.

I met Tom back in 1967 while I was working for my Dad at his Title Company, San Franciso Bay Title. Tom was at Surety Title, actually my Dad had been a Surety prior to starting his own company. I typically saw Tom every day down in the basement of the old superior court building in San Jose, Ca. Tom was a standup guy. We talked often. I loved him. God bless you Tom

At work Tom could always be depended on to help anyone, offer a smile or a shared laugh. He was a genuine person and a kindhearted gentleman. He was generous with his time and knowledge. Even now at work I still find myself figuring out some property legal description and realize that Tom D. taught me how to do that. His influence continues.

Tom, we will never forget your beautiful smile. I will forever cherish the short time that had together, your witty humor and the laughs we shared. You had a great impact on us here at WellQuest and will be greatly missed by everyone.

My husband Stan and I met Tom for the first time through our daughter-in-law, Patti Engebretson-Mietla, while living in Eau Claire, WI. We immediately liked Tom. He was so friendly and pleasant. From then on we all got together on his visits to Eau Claire, and then to Virginia where we eventually moved.  He was the nicest man. So smart, kind, and considerate. For years he sent me the best videos to cheer me up after I lost Stan. It’s hard to believe that Tom is gone too, so fast. Rest In Peace Tom, you will be missed.  Buster too.  ~ Shirley

We send our heartfelt condolences and blessings to Tom’s family. Tom Derouin and my dad, Al Torres, were long-standing friends. After retirement, my dad always looked forward to his monthly lunches with Tom at the Red Robin. Tom was always so kind and fun to talk with at the company picnics. Warmest regards from the Al Torres family.
