Wert was a true friend to my parents, Wilson & Helen Rose Ellington Cheely, and to me for many years in Virginia and in North Carolina where we all called home beginning in the new millennium. Wert respected my dad to the point of driving down to Winston-Salem to get him to POGO meetings whenever dad felt well enough to go. My dad & Wert loved Randolph-Macon, PHS, and ACC basketball. RIP
