So very sad to read of Robert's passing. Special memories of his Marshalltown, IA, days to be sure, especially on our swim teams.
As a high school classmate, I have tons of great memories of times together with Robert, including swim team and the Hi-Y organisation. With the news of his passing I have a flood of melancholy as I remember the fun times at Marshalltown High School. Back then he was creative, curious, adventurous, helpful and a lot of fun. I'm sure in his days after high school he was similar.
Robert visited my little store in Newport, Oregon back in May 2004, and early June 2004 I received the most heartfelt note regarding that visit. I've held onto that note all these years! If my short encounter with him is any indication, yes, indeed, Robert made everyone feel as though they were the most important person in the world. May some of his loving energy permeate my sphere!
