Dr. Edgar was one of the smartest, kindest and generous people I have ever known.  I will always treasure the conversations we had and the encouragement he gave me for my own research and practice and his living example of the way people ought to behave with each other. I had the good fortune to be, with Bob, one of four students studying for the PhD in T4 genetics at the University of Rochester with Gus Doermann in the 1950's. Dick Epstein died a few years ago. I have not recently heard from Dave Krieg. For a half year. or so, Bob and I shared an apartment, where he taught me music, poetry, and the importance of being kind to people.
