This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Richard Brewer, 88, born on October 12th, 1932 and passed away on July 16th, 2021. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 9, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 50 Woodsworth Lane, Pleasant Hill, CA. Memorial gifts may be sent to Faith Lutheran for the Legacy Foundation.
This is the wording that my dad left as part of preparation for a memorial service:
Tone of Service: Joy and Thanksgiving I’ve lived a long time and have enjoyed so many blessings. Not the least of those blessings has been the wonderful people with whom I have shared life. I love my wife, our children and grandchildren. I have had the joy of a happy childhood. The wonder and privilege of long service as a parish pastor has been mine. Who would have believed that someone who grew up in the Great Depression in a home of modest means and who went into the ministry would have been able to travel the world, on the one hand, and live in such a great place as Pleasant Hill for fifty years, on the other? Please celebrate with me as I pass from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant.
The Brewers lived just up the street from the home I grew up in on Croyden Drive. Great family. Pastor Brewer is truly missed. He gave the invocation at the Pleasant Hill High School 1980 graduation (final graduating class) and let the Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board members have it for deciding to close the school.
