I had the pleasure of being Richard Hoffman's friend for 20 years. I will remember him as a fiercely intelligent person, devoted to his friends and family. He enriched my life and our adventures all over the world fill me with great memories of Rich.  Whether it was eating bagels in Mariana, CA or standing in a motor pool looking at T-72 tanks in Mongolia, we always had a good time. Adieu
