Please accept my family's, and my, sincerest sympathies for your loss. Peter was an artist, a surfer, a sailor, a cyclist, a fellow West Marine associate, and a friend to name just a few of the ways that he touched our lives. I had the good fortune of working with Peter for most of the 1990's and even sailed to Hawaii with him in the 92' West Marine Pacific Cup. Fair winds my friend....
I'm Ross from Community Printers. Long before anyone was using recycled and dioxin free paper, Peter was specing it. He heard that Simpson Paper was dumping Dioxins in the water from their mill along the Columbia River. He boycotted them. Because West Marine uses a lot of paper, he got their attention. Eventually Simpson Paper rebuilt the mill using Dioxin Free Manufacturing.
Peter was a great friend and mentor to me, as an artist and surfer. As an artist, he taught me how to stick up for my ideas and to be brave about my work. As a surfer, he was always stoked, had the greatest stories, always had time to talk waves, boards and laugh. Peter could be grumpy sometimes but he always had a good heart, I will miss him and I think of him all the time. I miss him.
We met Peter and Patricia in Canada in 2017. We were on bike trip, and they welcome us in Santa Cruz.
We kept so much good memories with them, specially the bike ride we had together.Peter told us Patricia left us happy, having a last ride. And today I found out Peter left us too. They were so pure souls. Rest in Paradise.
