Paul Willis MacKinnon of Pleasant Hill, California, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021. Paul was born to the late Daloris Wilchek and George Donaldson, in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 29, 1946. Paul was adopted by Donald J. MacKinnon after the marriage of Daloris to Don MacKinnon in 1954. Paul was a lifelong resident of the Bay Area, moving to California as a young boy.
Paul spent several years in Thailand during the Viet Nam war, working as an airplane mechanic in the Air Force. This work was perfect for Paul, who was brilliantly mechanically inclined and could build a car motor from the ground up. Paul was very proud of his service to our Country and was active with local VA groups.
Paul is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene MacKinnon, two sons, Paul Spencer MacKinnon and Clark MacKinnon, who reside in Pleasant Hill, California, and two grandsons, Maddox MacKinnon and Brayden MacKinnon. His siblings also reside in the East Bay, Donna MacKinnon, Diane McCausland and James MacKinnon. Paul’s extended family reside in Story City, Iowa, Gladys and Wilmer Peter and Betty and Duane Paulson. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, along with several aunts and uncles in Iowa.
