At Santa Cruz in the 70's, I had many remarkable teachers. Paul was easily the most important. He introduced me to the richness of Spinoza,  the Upanishads, and philosophical analysis. Yet he got me to consider also that things in the world are interconnected in ways that words can't fully capture. I still argue with him about what this means (just as my own students now argue with me!)
