I will treasure our good times my brother, from our unusual meeting to our long conversations in Irish pubs when we went to visit my mum there in 2003. What a great traveling companion you were. And patient! To meet you was to like you, and to talk to you was to marvel at your intellect. Mostly I remember you smiling and laughing. -Kevin
Michael was the Resident Assistant at my dorm hall at UCSC. I lived there two years and from my first day moving into the dorm in 1985, I hit it off with Michael straight away. He became a good friend - we both loved much of the same music, playing backgammon, and general college antics. I will always remember your smile Michael, your laugh, and good spirit. You are missed.
Always was my younger brother, but will always remain my loving brother. Michael was the first to help anyone in need and would provide the comfort and support that everyone craves in life. He performed out of great love and with unconditional sincerity.
Michael you will be missed and always loved .
Peace and Love Jonathan
Dear brother of my beloved dharma sister Shirley--always kind and caring, such a steady comforting presence for me and Shirley when it mattered the most, providing continuity and friendship for me after she passed. Holding you in my heart with so much metta and compassion.
michael, you were a beacon of compassion and wisdom in my foolish younger day, and it was with such gratitude that i welcomed your friendship. i always cherished this hope that you and andreas would one day meet and expound forth on the wonders of the world, and now that hope is futile. thank you for being a presence in my life.
Michael, You are missed. you were both sharp and kind and your passing has a significant ripple for all of us. I will not forget you and the times we shared.
I just found out today that this dear man, who I knew through The Bagelry, passed away. Last time I saw you Michael, it was dusk at Wilder Ranch. It was a wonderful surprise and lovely to walk and talk with you for a bit. I am so sad and sorry to hear of your passing. Much love to your friends and family. You will be missed.
Our longest conversation was one night (at The Poet, of course) almost immediately after I decided to leave Santa Cruz for grad school. I remember prattling on for hours, complimenting one another on the intriguing conversation, and cherishing this experience as a strong sentiment of home. I feel loss that you are gone, but luck that our paths once crossed. A remarkable being.
Dearest Michael,
I am deeply saddened by your death, a beautiful soul that left us too soon. I will always be grateful for the safe, warm space you shared with me briefly upon my return to Santa Cruz. I still see the huge dictionary you left open on the table, one that I had to refer to when talking to you!
