I just read about Bill’s passing in the Harvard Alumni magazine. The news saddened me greatly, especially to know that had I been aware, I might have been able to meet up in L.A.  He was my thesis advisor in ‘94-95 for a topic on Rembrandt’s etchings. I remember him as unfailingly calm, kind and supportive. I hope it is a small comfort to his family to know he mattered to many.
