What an impact Bill had on so many -- a great teacher, mentor and friend; a down to earth pragmatist; a straight shooter; and a guy who got stuff done. Bill, I miss you. Thanks for sharing with me. Mark Rice

A True/Blue Friend
We should all be so lucky to have known someone like Big Bill.
Seeing him for the first time in a little league baseball game, standing on the pitching mound at over 6 foot tall was amazing to say the least.
I really got to know Bill in our high school years. He always played hoop and actually tried football one year. Bill was a great defender and rebound specialist. I'll never forget the time we challenged Bill to try and dunk the ball in the back gym one day after practice. We prodded him so much so much he finally agreed to try. We passed the ball to him and he proceeded to jump with with both hands on the ball. Yes he finally dunked, but the only problem was he held on the the rim and didn't want to let go! He held on to what seemed like minutes. He finally came down with thud and a big smile, oh did we laugh.
Bill had a beautiful, quiet sense of humor.
We played many games of poker over the years. In his high school days we used to call him Gut Shot. He was never afraid to go for that elusive inside straight.
We enjoyed some beers in our last few years of high school with teammates and friends had many, many laughs.
Bill was just a great person to be around- pleasant, honest, straightforward, easy going and faithful. Our fishing trips to Quabbin were always eventful . We would sit in the boat and play catch up on family, friends , sports, poker, and current events. I will always cherish those memories of our trips forever.
I am humbled and honored to have hugged him on my last trip to the nursing home.
Love ya man!
See you someday.
Your best friend Dicky Mong

I am on campus today to meet with Billy. It is painful to know I will not see you. I have so many memories with you here. I went to Glavin Chapel and walked around. Maybe Paul and I could be married there. I would feel like you were with us. I love the blue windows :). I wish I could have just one more hug. I miss you so much. Love, Speedy.

It is hard to think of my Babson experience without remembering Professor Lawler, and I'm sure many of my classmates would agree. He was hugely influential in our time there and had so much of our respect and admiration, not just for his knowledge, but also for his commitment to our learning. Wherever you are Sir, I wish you peace. Thank you always for pushing us - you made us better. M'02
