I met Bill eight years ago and we became good friends. We shared many interests (pizza, beer, Quaker process, milkshakes, music, cars, history, computers, gadgets, cats, humor). I helped him do things as his health declined and he helped me enjoy life, even when I was not feeling or doing well. Bill was excellent company on my journey through life. I miss him and will remember him always.

Brother Bill, your love for me and the Africans, especially Ghanaians, who frequent your house day and night, during your life time won't forget you for your Agape love, your jokes and the ride we got from you on your golf cart, to familiarize us with your compound, was great. Also, your humble teaching spirit, to help us know the seed that each tree produces in your house was enjoyable.

Uncle Bill, you truly demonstrated your love to us by opening your home to us Ghanaians and other Africans. We will forever remember you for your humility and gentle spirit that made you take your time to explain issues to us whenever we visited you and Aunty Mary. I particularly will not forget your love for African music and dance. Rest in Peace.

He liked be to by himself. While Dada Mary loved loudly, Papa Bill loved quietly and intensely. He had a beautiful smile which was readily noticeable. He was profoundly soft-spoken and gentle. Papa Bill, thank you very much for accepting us into your home in your own right and we are also grateful to you for allowing your great Dr Mrs Mary Fran Hughes-McIntyre to bless us with her care.

Uncle Bill was a calm gentle man with a beautiful smiling face which was noticeable by all. His profound love especially for students of African descent in VUU was unparalleled. Uncle Bill your doors were opened to us, and above all you've allowed your dear wife Dr Mrs Mary Fran McIntyre to be our source of hope and inspiration in a strange land. May God grant you perfect peaceful res!!!!!

Uncle Bill was a really nice person who always wanted to make us feel at home. Inspite of his health challenges Uncle Bill will join us for dinner and try to play African drums as we sing various traditional songs on occasions. He has been such an inspiration to many of us. May he rest in peace

“And I heard a voice from Heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they shall rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Rev. 14:13

It is with heavy heart I pay this tribute to the man who was father to me and many other international students, especially those from Ghana.
Mr. William Franklin Hughes-Mcintyre and his wife Dr. Mary Fran Hughes-Mcintyre were very kind, loving and hospitable to us when we were studying in the US. Their doors were always open to receive us. They fed, counselled, encouraged and comfort us. They were our parents who took care of us in a foreign land. They made sure we always feel at home. They did their best to provide our needs.
Dad, when you were sick we prayed fervently to God to heal and restore you. It pleased God to call you home to rest! I miss you Dad! You will forever remain in my heart. May your works follow you!
Dad, we love you but God loves you most!

Rest in God’s bosom till we meet again on the Day of Resurrection.

William Franklin Hughes-McIntyre affectionately known as Bill was the most perspicacious man I have ever met. I got to know Bill through his loving generous supportive wife, Mary Fran. What is most amazing to me as an African was Bill decorum and peacefulness. In my entire life I have never seen anyone so quiet as Bill; he was not a man of many words, a virtue that I long for. During all my visits at their humble residence I cannot record Bill uttering a single word(s). He would sit quietly in our Koinonia with infectious smiles on his countenance until he retired to his study. This virtue of his has imprinted an indelible mark on my person and for these he will be long remember but also missed.

Bill was an angel, a true saint by all standard. A man who was always looking for an opportunity to help alleviate a difficulty. One puzzle that remained unsolved though was the deep love demonstrated towards especially those of us from African origin. I knew Hughes McIntyre through his  angelic wife Mary-Fran. He was very peaceful and loving. On earth you'll definitely be remembered!
