Wayne B. What a wonderful life you lived filled with amazing accomplishments and the love of family. I’m sorry the last part was so difficult. My wish for you in your after life is that you and Florence are happy once again gardening, walking, playing sweet music together and all the other projects and things you enjoyed. What a sweet tribute in pics prepared for you in your honor. It was privilege to know you
I am lucky enough to be married to Wayne's son, Richard. Wayne was so kind to me. Upon our very first meeting, he welcomed me to the family! And, it's a wonderful family. He loved to read and discuss, always questioning. When he began to talk about being in the war, he was a historian's best friend. I will miss him.
Uncle Wayne, your big smile shows you had a wonderful life with family and friends. I so enjoyed hearing your stories and I am honored you served our country in WWII. You are now at peace and rejoicing once again with Florence and family on the other side. You will be missed. My love to you and congratulations on a life well lived.
What a GUY! He was always willing to share his stories AND his winning SMILE! As Wayne's neighbor for many years he was a gift to our family and our neighborhood. I remember well when I returned to visit him years later how he could recall memories not even I could tell about the neighborhood. A true veteran hero and well respected musician, we all shall miss his stories and smile.
Wayne was a much loved member of my breakfast group, the Old Aviators. We were all military and/or airline pilots from here in Fresno/Clovis area. We would meet once a month and swap flying stories. No one could top Wayne's memories of the war. I felt a particularly close kinship with Wayne - his first mission over Germany, in the lead B-17, was on the day I was born in Dec,1944.
What is there to say other than love and wonderful 45 plus years of memories of music and camping together with Country Roads Folk Music Camp and love of the Methodist church. Rest well Wayne and hugs to family and friends.
I love you Grandpa, and I'm so lucky to have had you in my corner for nearly 50 years. I miss you.
