Death isn’t anything more than invisible life. It was one year ago today that I walked out of that hospital room knowing you no longer resided in that body that laid warm in that bed. ?
Every single day that has passed has brought both tears and laughter, extreme sadness and joy, feelings of void and fullness. I still see your face. I still feel the warmth of your body when we last embraced. I still hear the sound of your laughter and the tone of your voice. I still know what you’d say before you say it. You haven’t gone anywhere. I can’t call you on the phone, but I can call you. I know you won’t be home if I stop by, but I know how to reach you. Death isn’t anything more than invisible life.
You were loyal to a fault, so I know better than to presume you left without saying “Goodbye.” You are my sister, my blood, my secret vault, my friend and my forever love. You are your sister’s keeper and I am yours. Death isn’t anything more than invisible life.
