My sincere sympathy to loved ones, extended family, her beloved Dick Summers, and others who will greatly miss her bright light. Sylvia was a consummate lady and professional who blessed the lives of those who knew her or were lucky enough to work with her at the American Heart Association, Virginia Affiliate.
Sylvia was an inspiration and I learned so much from her at AHA about leadership, accountability, celebrating success and rebounding from challenges. Her great sense of humor, style, creativity, design and empathy made it great fun to be her colleague. My best to all of her family -and friends - as we deal with the loss of a wonderful individual.
We shared 6 wonderful years at the American Heart Association and I will be forever grateful for all I learned from her, all of which made me a better employee for future jobs. And that naughty Elizabeth Rose - the Yorkie with a Lion's temperament! Christmas will always be remembered at the house in the Fan District. Sylvia Summers, she may be gone, but she will never, ever be forgotten.
It makes me sad to hear of the passing of Sylvia. I worked with Sylvia many years ago, in the beginning of our careers.
I learned what a professional was through her example & will cherish memories I have in my heart for her & one special recipe that I received from her, that I still make & my family loves. RIP Dear Sylvia!
