You hit it in the head, how can someone make you feel like you lost your best friend ...
All my memories of Steve end with a laugh. Not many people can make that mark on the world.

I’m one of Steve’s many hockey teammates. We’ve skated together just about every week for 13 years. I’ve known 100s of players and no one affected me quite like “Flounder.” I am so grateful for his friendship and helping me not take myself so seriously. I will miss our many friendly battles as he “tried” to keep me from his goalie. My condolences to his many loved ones. Miss you brother!

The obituary was spot on. I met Steve at a rink 15 years ago and became friends instantly, as I’m sure was the way with him and so many others. A wonderful teammate and friend who will truly be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. I hope in Heaven your shot is a cannon, and your Spinorama is as smooth as Bobby Orr’s. Flounder, hockey and life won’t be the same without you.

Steve was a staple of our men’s league, Fri afternoon and Sunday morning skates and of my best hockey buds for over 25 years. Truly one of the good guys, he will be missed by all of us! Hockey just won’t be the same without Steve! On the ice, in the locker room, or afterwards, Steve was the shining light of our group!

Steve will always be one of my favorite hockey players.  I can’t say enough about his presence.  When he walked into the locker room his smile lit up the room.  There was always a smile, always a joke, always a good story but most of all there was always his friendship.  I can truly say it feels like I’ve lost a brother....miss you Flounder.

I have been a hockey teammate of Flounders (Steve) for at least 6 yrs. He lit up our locker room, joked, kept things light and was a leader on the team. I dread going back into the locker room and him not be there. I can’t believe he is gone, but his memory and the good times we had will never be gone. Hockey and our team will never be the same without him. I am thankful to have known him.

Having grown up in the South Shore, Steve and I found a lot in common.  Every time I saw him he brightened my day and reminded me of home when we reminisced in the locker room about the Bruins or just about anything from Mass.
I can’t even begin to imagine what your family is going through and I wish I had the words to ease the pain.  We all know what a good person he was.  I’ll just add that  he was one of the nicest people I have ever been blessed to know.

My friendship with Steve goes back 35 years, when we lived in Tampa together... to present day, as coworkers for the past 25 years.  Since those days in Florida, I consider Steve one of my very closest friends.  But Steve had that affect on everyone he met.  He could light up a room with his spontaneous wit!   I still can't comprehend his passing.  Rest in peace my friend.

Steve was a fixture of the local hockey scene, playing on several teams over the years and in many pick-up groups. His love of the game was undeniable, but more importantly, he was one of those rare people who made you feel that you had been lifetime friends five minutes after meeting for the first time. He genuinely cared about people and always had a smile on his face. I will miss him.
