I love you and miss you, Grandpa! I thank God for the opportunity to see you again one day... Hopefully soon!
Russ was Mr. Beale to me when I grew up down the hill from the family. Lynda (now Nihala) and I would catch a ride with him to school. We were always running late and he so cheerfully drove us in his VW bus. Always a pleasant, welcoming smile for me. I will remember him with fondness. Condolences to the whole family. My dad was the BEST dad in the world!!
He was kind, thoughtful, generous. Even though he did not believe in God, he taught me Christian values. To love one another as you love yourself, to treat people the way you want to be treated. To love your neighbor.and to not judge people. I am the youngest of his four children and probably the most rebellious, despite my many fault
He was there for me. He allowed me to makes mistakes, but was there to help me with my choices. He encouraged me to do the best I could do. It's hard to believe he is really gone. I love you dad and miss you very much. The memories I have I will cherish as long as I am here.
The warmth and the scent of his coat as he walked in the door after work at 6:30, is what I remember. Always well dressed before work, suit and tie. That feeling of security as we hugged him. From the time my arms would only reach half way round to recently, as his vulnerability and frailness was felt, he was there for us.
Russ and I shared rides for a while to the Healdsburg Community Band. We shared bits of our lives. I learned he was into rowing big time before Cloverdale. He was an early riser to do that! I learned we both earned degrees in the field of psychology...His a PhD, mine a masters. I am glad I knew him and I thank him for introducing me to Lynn a wonderful person. May he make music in Heaven!
Russ, we will miss you! We met you when Richard married my sister Carolyn and always enjoyed our time spent with you and Lynn after that. You smile and joy were infectious and reflected your high energy level and zest for life. You made a real difference in so many lives, and can be proud of the fact that the world is truly a better place because you were here! Jud and Ildiko Scott
