My parents and I were always so very fond of Bob all those years we vacationed in Maine. He was a lovely man in every way. His students (and his children) were very fortunate to have a teacher so full of life, wisdom, and inspiration. My most heartfelt sympathies to his family!
I worked with Bob at CCHS and had the pleasure of enjoying his wit and learning from his wisdom. I have never forgotten the day a new administrator learned that Bob was in the English Department and asked him what he taught. Bob’s response, “I teach whatever walks in the door.” Bob was keenly attentive to who the students were and he was an expert at selecting materials to engage them.
Mr Horne was an inspiration. He read my report on Capote's short story collection and had tears in his eyes. The first time I felt the influence of the written word. He also described an airline pilot friend whose Corvette was as complicated as an airplane. Many memories of him made a lasting impression upon me. His passion and generosity of spirit have forever changed my life. Bless you.
