I had the great pleasure of working with Bob three different times over two decades. It was amazing how he would go out of his way to help students and anyone else. If you go to the NPS Library website and search through the theses, you very quickly find nearly a 100 tributes to Bob from different students - and I have probably missed a few! A great man - he will be truly missed.

Dear Diane, I just learned of Bob’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. My office at NPS was next to Bob’s until my retirement in 2004. His work was absolutely essential to the functioning of the Met Dept. I loved talking to Bob. We laughed and joked about pretty much anything and everything. I never met a better person. I will miss him. Bill Thompson
