Sadly last week we lost a great man. He was a true civil servant working as a police officer in the early part of his career & then as a high school teacher & coach. It was impossible to go anywhere with Myron without someone calling his name. He deeply respected the individual & always made people feel comfortable, welcome & important. He was the patriarch of our family. Miss you brother.

Such a wonderful man and a great teacher, he touched many young lives with stern compassion and caring for his students. He built us up as individuals with a grounded understanding that we were not invincible but could still accomplish fantastic things if we would only commit to learn from our mistakes and take responsibility for our actions. Thank you Mr.Z.

One of the most influential teachers I had at Pioneer High School. His smile brightened up the day. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Myron, the father of one of my oldest friends Julie, was always so kind to me.  Always asking about the teams I coached and supportive of what I did.  I have always thought what a great father he was and how lucky the Zaccheo's were to have him in their lives.  May he always shine down on your beautiful family.

What can I say to the man that was my Drivers Ed Teacher and Football coach . He was one of the last Great teachers High School has ever known. Many of the lessons I learned on the Foorball field I take with me to this day . Taught you responsibility and accountability for your actions . Your going to be missed Coach "Z"

I still remember my first days as a drama teacher at Pioneer. I was scared, nervous and doubting my career choice. But, every time he saw me, Mr. Zaccheo made sure to stop whatever he was doing and take a few minutes to encourage and motivate me. He constantly reminded me that I was doing something good, something worthwhile, something very, very important. I will always be grateful to him

Well before the concept of it takes a village to raise a child, Myron & Carol were actively helping to raise many of us.  Lisa was none too happy when Myron let me drive her future car (she did not yet have her license).  I remember how great it felt that he trusted me with the car, but more importantly his daughter riding in the passenger seat.  We cherish Myron’s impact.

No words can express the pain of your family's loss however, the memories you and your family have built with him will fill your hearts in the future. I am amazed at the strength and determination Myron displayed during his battle. The love, support, and bond this family shares will continue to grow because of the solid foundation he helped to build. Rest in peace!

Although we had so much time with you Dad it still never prepares us for the huge void that you've left in our hearts. You taught me to be good person, treat everyone with respect no matter what. I do what I do today because of were my inspiration and I couldn't have had a better dad/coach. You will always remain a Class Act in my eyes...I miss and love  you dad forever.

Myron was the best person I've ever known. We met in the first grade and  have been best friends ever since. I will miss him so much. I could talk forever about him but I will say he was the best person at everything he ever did and so many people know this.

Myron was my Godfather and my dad's best friend for over 65 years. I fondly remember our "traditional" family spring break vacations each year in Lake Tahoe, countless parties & gathers over the past 30 years. It was a blessing & a privilege to be his Godson. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. May you find peace in the love you shared & memories that will live with you forever.

Myron, I could not be more proud to be your brother.  Your generosity and love added more to my life than words can begin to express.  You were my brother and best friend from day one.  I don't know how to begin to thank you.

Candle lit by  Mandy McCurdy  on November 13th, 2015

Myron was the bravest fighter I have ever known.  He was strong and fought the fight of his life for family.  In fact, it was all for you Zaccheo clan!  His love and strength was and always will be inspiring.  You are a blessed bunch.  In the words of another fighter that reminds me of Myron, Michael J Fox:  "Family is not an important thing. It's everything!".

Coach Zaccheo had such a positive impact on my life as he did to so many others. I played for him, coached under him, and always thought of him as a major mentor in my life. Simply put, Coach Z was an outstanding coach and a great man and it was truly an honor to play for him and learn from him. I will miss Coach Z greatly! The life lessons he taught me will forever exist within me!

One attribute about my first cousin Myron was his ability to be focused on you and your life when we would be together. He was a committed husband and father. He and Carol did a great job raising their three children. At age 6, he was my hero because he set the neighborhood bully in his place when My visited us in Monterey for the holidays. Thanks to Jesus, I know you are in heaven.

Myron, thank you for teaching me the lessons that have guided my teaching, my coaching and my life since 1980 when you came to Gunderson HS as a teacher and football coach. You are one of the reasons that I chose teaching and coaching as a profession. I wanted to do for others what you had done for me. Your passion for coaching and for life will live with me forever. Love you Coach!
