Matt and I worked together during my stay in San Jose for 6 months. I remember Matt as a true professional and a passion for family and friends.  I relied heavily on Matt's experience in the Aviation Field that made our collaboration strong.  I will miss him dearly and may he rest in peace.  -Pete Yiakos

A great friend, colleague and pilot, we at the FAA (San Jose FSDO) will miss Matt terribly.

Matt was very kind and offered his assistance when I first came to the San Jose FAA office in 2015. In the short time I knew him, he spoke lovingly of his family and friends and always flashed a warm smile with a rare friendliness and charm of personality. It was my privilege to know Matt, and my thoughts are with you all in this difficult time.

Matt and I were hired the same year, attended strings and did our initial King Air together. It was there that he taught me how to take off in a (SIM) helicopter. I was so excited about having pulled that off that I immediately stopped listening to his instructions on landing. Suffice to say, the landing went horribly awry. But boy did we have fun! Fair winds and blue skies ahead Mark.

Matt and I were friends since 2nd grade and as a results did many things together for decades... From Day on the Green rock concerts in the 70’s to The Rolling Stones in the 90’s, pasta dinners at my house to his moms amazing chili at his house. Like so many we both got busy with our lives but Matt always made it a point to be there, from my parents funerals to my daughters HS graduation. Every time we picked up right where we left off, never missing a beat, that is a sign of a great friend, we were family; he was my brother.
Right now my family grieves the loss of a great friend, kind soul and just all around decent man. RIP my friend.
